An Operating System is the software which interacts with the hardware of a computer system and is the intermediary between the installed applications and the hardware, including peripherals such as a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. When you run software, it transmits requests to the OS through an API (Application Program Interface) and the communication is done via a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Just like a personal computer, hosting servers also use an Operating System that functions as a host for all the software installed on them, which includes script applications or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, etc. A virtual machine can be set up on a physical one, so you will be able to install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast with the physical server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

If you decide to purchase one of our VPS server plans, you will be able to select one of the three Linux distributions that we offer for the OS of the servers - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. These are among the most widely used and most stable server OSs available on the market and we offer them so that you have a choice for the software environment of your machine in case that you want to install some application with particular requirements regarding the packages that must be present on the hosting server. We also offer three web hosting Control Panels and which one of them you'll be able to use will depend on the OS that you have chosen. We leave the option to change the server Operating System open, so if you want to use an app that requires an OS different from the one that's already present, we can always reinstall the VPS. We can also keep the OS up-to-date on a weekly basis by installing any security updates which may be released.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

The dedicated server solutions that we offer come with as many as three different Operating Systems to choose from. They are all Linux release - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license charges, but they’re also considered to be among the most dependable and safe OSs. We offer three different ones for the reason that each of them is supported by a different community. The packages that you can add on your hosting server are different and this could matter in case you want to install some piece of software with specific requirements regarding the hosting environment. In this light, the web hosting Control Panel which you can select for the dedicated server also depends on the OS that you'll pick. You can pick any of the three Operating Systems during the order procedure, but if needed, we can always set up the server once again with a different one upon your request. As an optional service that you may add to the plan any time, we can update your OS on a regular basis in order to keep it as risk-free as possible.
