If you want to direct a domain that you have to some other domain address or subdomain, one way to do that would be to use a CNAME record. By setting up such a record, the domain name being pointed loses all its records (A, MX, and so on) and instead, it takes the A record of the domain it is pointed to. This way, if you use a web design service by some company that gives you a subdomain, you can use an actual domain name and not only will it be forwarded to the site which you have set up, but it'll also be displayed in the web browser address bar at all times. Alternative possible uses of a CNAME record are to forward all the visitors from different subdomains to their main domain address, or to use the webmail service of your hosting provider by using webmail.your-doman.com, for example. The latter will work only by creating a CNAME record for a subdomain since this kind of a record set up for the main domain name renders it impossible to use e-mail addresses.

CNAME Records in Cloud Hosting

You can easily create CNAME records in case you have a cloud hosting plan with our company. We're going to provide you with an easy-to-use Control Panel which allows you to observe all DNS records for the domain addresses and subdomains which are hosted in the account. Creating a CNAME record requires a few basic steps - choose the domain/subdomain, pick CNAME as the type, enter the hostname you are forwarding to, and then simply click the Save button. The procedure is as basic as that and the new record will be active almost right away. This way, you're going to have more control over your domain addresses and subdomains and over the content they open, you'll be able to set up a private URL for company emails, and much more. If you feel uncertain about how to set up a new record or you have never done such a task, you will find there's a short video tutorial in which you can see the whole process first-hand. If you choose to change or delete an existing CNAME record created for a domain/subdomain hosted on our end, it will take you literally simply a mouse click to get it done.

CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server with our company and you would like to set up a CNAME record, it will take only a few mouse clicks to complete this task. The plans are handled using our in-house built Hepsia hosting CP in which you will find a section dedicated to the DNS records of the domain addresses and subdomains hosted within the account. To create a CNAME record, you will simply have to pick the record type and the hostname (domain or subdomain), key in where the latter is going to be pointed to and save the change. The new record will be active almost immediately in our system and will propagate worldwide within a couple of hours. Changing or deleting an existing CNAME record in the account is equally easy and takes a click.
